The death of actor and humanitarian, Paul Walker has sent shockwaves throughout Hollywood and the internet.
The Fast & Furious actor became an international superstar because of the series, but it is charitable work that has been overlooked by media reports and his fans on social media. Walker had just left a charity event for the Philippines typhoon relief effort when the accident occurred. I have seen countless tweets and comments regarding the death of the actor, but one of the most popular comments I saw was in referenced to how good looking Walker was. Although, we do agree Walker was a handsome guy, it is his charitable work that will probably be one his greatest accomplishments (besides his daughter of course).
The actor formed REACH OUT Worldwide (ROWW) back in 2010 “to mobilize quickly and travel to affected areas, sending qualified team members including doctors, EMT’s, paramedics, and search and rescue professionals to provide first aid, medical supplies, water filters, and other life-saving necessities.” Walker and his ROWW team flew out to Chile back in March 2010 to assist after the country had experienced an 8.8 magnitude earthquake. In that same year, Walker and ROWW went to Haiti after another devastating earthquake.
This article isn’t about shaming those that want to focus on Walker’s looks or his movies. But I think he would also want people to focus on his efforts to give back to a world that had blessed him in many ways. We hope this post will help, even in a little way, continue his legacy at Reach Out Worldwide.
