Ariana Grande has scored a #1 debut with her debut album, “Yours Truly”.
The actress-turned-singer has shifted 135,000 units of the album that is lead by the Billboard Top 5 Hit “The Way” and the newly released “Baby I”. Grande has already two hit shows under her belt (Nickelodeon’s “Victorious”, “Sam & Cat”), and now she can add a #1 album to her list of accomplishments.
Grande, a relatively new artist is followed by veteran artist Tamar Braxton of the release of her highly anticipated comeback album, “Love And War”. Braxton’s sophomore album shifted 117,000 units. The singer’s debut album, which saw a release 13 years ago debuted with 12,000 in 2000, and has only shifted 96,000 to date. Similarly to Grande, Braxton also has two shows to thank for propelling her to recent fame; the reality shows Braxton Values”, and “Tamar & Vince” on WE TV.
Other debuts this week included John Legend’s “Love In The Future” which came in at #5 (65,000), and Jaheim’s “Appreciation Day” also made a top 10 debut with 56,000 units, leaving only 10,000 separating Legend and himself.
